Senior Platform Engineer (Data Platform) Location: Remote (European Time Zone) Contract Type: B2B About us: ETFbook is a Swiss SaaS company providing data, analytics, and custom solutions in the Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) space. Founded in 2020, we aim to make global ETF data accessible, actionable, and valuable for institutional participants, including ETF issuers, index providers, fund service providers, market makers, exchanges, and buy-side institutions. We develop a platform which offers comprehensive insights through a user-friendly web application and robust APIs, covering areas such as product analysis, fund flow tracking, performance comparisons, and liquidity assessments. About the role: You'll join the Data Platform team, part of the technology department. This team builds and runs the Databricks-based platform our data engineers work on; the data engineering teams build the pipelines on top of it. Your primary goal will be owning the standards, the governance model and the tooling everyone builds on. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will decide what CI enforces, how access and data quality are governed, how the platform survives failure and what it costs, and drive platform projects from feature to delivery, collaborating closely with data engineering leadership, architects and the data engineering teams. You'll be part of a collaborative team focused on platform engineering, data governance and engineering standards, in a senior individual contributor role with real design authority. This role offers the chance to make a visible impact in a dynamic, fast-evolving field. Responsibilities: Owns the delivery standard: templates, shared libraries, CI/CD, promotion path. Owns what CI enforces: modelling and naming conventions, tests, release gates. Owns the platform's Terraform and designs the platform for self-service. Owns the Unity Catalog governance model: classification, lineage, sharing. Owns the access model and its auditing: personas, privileges, entitlement reviews. Owns observability, data quality and the cost envelope: telemetry, SLAs, quality checks, alert routing, attribution. Owns disaster recovery (secondary region, backups, failover runbook, rehearsals), takes part in the duty rota and leads serious incidents. Drives small projects end to end and mentors engineers through code review. Requirements: 6+ years in data engineering or data platform work, several of them setting technical direction and running projects end to end. Deep Databricks and Unity Catalog: governance, compute policies, system tables. Has implemented a data governance capability, not only administered one. Strong CI/CD and platform engineering; Terraform that others build on. Data modelling depth (Data Vault 2.0 or dimensional) to hold conventions. Production ownership of resilience and observability. Strong communication; holds a standard and changes it when it is wrong. English - B2 or higher. Nice to have: Financial market data: ETF and fund reference, primary and secondary data. Postgres serving layers at production scale; MLflow model serving. Formal governance frameworks; introducing AI-assisted engineering to a team.
