Technical Lead – AI Assisted / Senior Expert Technical Lead responsible for driving the technical direction and adoption of AI-assisted software engineering and AI-enabled solutions across development teams.The role combines strong software engineering expertise with hands-on experience in Generative AI, LLMs, AI coding assistants, automation and modern cloud architectures. The person will define technical standards, guide engineering teams and ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable and aligned with business requirements.The role is primarily technical and architecture-oriented, with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities rather than direct people management. Years of experience: 8+ years of overall experience in software engineering, technical architecture or technology leadership.3+ years of experience working with AI/ML, Generative AI or AI-enabled software solutions.Proven experience leading complex technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.Strong experience with modern software development practices and cloud-based architectures. Main mandatory techs / skills: Strong software engineering background with expertise in Python and/or Java, with experience in modern application development.Strong knowledge of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, OpenAI or similar platforms.Experience designing and implementing AI-powered applications and solutions, including LLM-based applications, AI agents or intelligent automation.Strong understanding of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), embeddings and vector databases.Experience with AI/ML frameworks and platforms such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Azure AI, AWS AI services, Google Vertex AI or equivalent.Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices and cloud-native architectures.Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.Understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, Git and automated testing.Knowledge of AI governance, security, data privacy, responsible AI and access control.Ability to define technical standards, architecture principles and best practices for AI-assisted development.Ability to evaluate new AI technologies and translate them into practical engineering use cases.Strong technical communication skills and ability to influence engineers, architects and business stakeholders.Experience mentoring and technically guiding engineering teams without necessarily having direct people-management responsibility. Nice to have:Experience implementing AI agents / Agentic AI and multi-agent architectures.Experience with MLOps / LLMOps and production monitoring of AI solutions.Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, Qdrant or pgvector.Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and infrastructure-as-code.Knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar AI integration approaches.Experience establishing AI coding standards, governance and developer enablement programmes.Experience integrating AI capabilities into existing enterprise applications and platforms.Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI API, Anthropic or Google Gemini.Experience in multinational / enterprise environments.Previous experience in pharma / healthcare / life sciences is a plus.Agile methodologies such as Scrum, SAFe or similar. Location:Europe time zone preferred – ideally Barcelona or elsewhere in Europe.Full remote acceptable. Languages: English: professional / fluent (minimum strong B2, ideally C1) – daily interaction with international engineering and business teams.Additional European languages are an advantage, but not mandatory.
