Location: EuropeEmployment: Full-timeLevel: Scientist / Senior Scientist / Principal We are looking for experimental AMO Physicists to join teams developing next-generation quantumhardware across Europe. This role is suited to physicists with hands-on experience building, operating and improving complexatomic, molecular and optical experiments. Relevant backgrounds include neutral atoms, trapped ions, quantum optics, atomic clocks, quantum sensing and related experimental AMO platforms. ResponsibilitiesDesign, build and optimise experimental AMO and quantum hardware systemsDevelop and operate laser cooling, trapping, imaging and state-control systemsBuild and maintain complex optical and laser setupsWork with ultra-high-vacuum systems, RF/DC electronics and experimental control hardwareDevelop laser frequency and intensity stabilisation systemsCharacterise experimental performance, identify sources of noise and improve system fidelity and stabilityAutomate experiments, calibration routines and data acquisitionAnalyse experimental data using Python or similar scientific programming toolsTroubleshoot complex systems spanning optics, electronics, vacuum, software and quantum devicesCollaborate with physicists, optical engineers, electronics engineers and software/control teams Relevant ExperienceWe are interested in candidates with experience in one or more of: Neutral atomsTrapped ionsOptical tweezers or optical latticesLaser cooling and trappingRydberg physicsQuantum opticsAtomic spectroscopyAtom interferometryQuantum sensing or metrologyIon trappingQubit manipulation and readoutUHV systemsLaser stabilisationAOMs / EOMsRF and microwave controlExperimental automation and controlARTIQ, LabVIEW, Python, C++ or similar RequirementsPhD in AMO Physics, Quantum Physics, Experimental Physics or a closely related disciplineStrong hands-on laboratory experienceExperience building, operating or significantly modifying complex experimental systemsStrong experimental debugging and problem-solving abilityComfortable working across optics, electronics, software and hardwareStrong communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams Previous commercial quantum-computing experience is advantageous but not essential. Researchersmoving from leading academic AMO laboratories into industry are encouraged to apply. OpportunityYou will work directly on experimental quantum technologies moving from laboratory demonstrationstoward increasingly scalable and reliable systems. Opportunities are available across European quantum companies at Scientist through Principal level, with relocation support available for selected positions.
