Finance Specialist – Workday Finance - German Speaker - Fully RemoteContract | Initial 6 MonthsLocation: Fully RemoteRate: Market RateLanguage: German SpeakerRole OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Finance Specialist with strong hands-on knowledge of Workday Finance / Workday Financial Management to support a finance transformation and systems programme.This role requires someone who combines strong accounting and finance expertise with practical ERP experience. You will work closely with Finance, Technology and programme stakeholders to ensure that finance processes, controls, reporting requirements and accounting structures are correctly represented within Workday.This is not purely a technical Workday configuration role. The successful candidate should understand how a Finance function operates end-to-end and be comfortable translating real-world finance requirements into effective system processes and solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as the bridge between Finance stakeholders and the Workday Finance implementation or support team.Provide subject matter expertise across core finance processes within Workday Financial Management.Analyse existing finance processes and identify opportunities for improvement, simplification and automation.Gather, challenge and document Finance business requirements.Translate accounting and finance requirements into functional Workday solutions.Support the design, configuration, testing and implementation of Workday Finance processes.Work across financial accounting processes including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and financial close.Support Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash processes.Review and support Chart of Accounts, accounting structures, cost centres, business units and other finance master data.Support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and management reporting requirements.Assist with financial reporting, management information, dashboards and analytics.Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close processes.Ensure system processes meet financial control, governance, audit and compliance requirements.Review existing controls and identify opportunities to strengthen or automate financial controls through Workday.Support data migration, reconciliation and validation activities.Develop and execute finance-related test scenarios and support UAT.Investigate Finance system and process issues and work with technical teams to resolve them.Support integration between Workday Finance and other enterprise systems where required.Produce process documentation, functional specifications, operating procedures and training materials.Support Finance users through implementation, change and adoption.Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to Finance teams.Required ExperienceStrong professional background within Finance, Accounting, Financial Control, FP&A or Finance Transformation.Practical experience working with Workday Financial Management / Workday Finance.Strong understanding of core accounting principles and Finance operating processes.Experience working across areas such as:General LedgerAccounts PayableAccounts ReceivableRecord-to-ReportProcure-to-PayOrder-to-CashFinancial CloseBudgeting and ForecastingManagement ReportingFinancial ControlsExperience working on ERP implementations, upgrades, transformation programmes or major finance system changes.Strong understanding of Chart of Accounts and financial accounting structures.Experience gathering Finance requirements and translating them into system or process solutions.Strong financial reporting and analytical capability.Experience with reconciliations, controls and financial governance.Comfortable working between Finance and Technology teams.Experience supporting system testing, UAT, data validation and implementation activities.Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.Desirable ExperienceQualified or part-qualified accountant such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent.Workday Financial Management implementation experience.Workday Finance configuration knowledge.Finance transformation or Target Operating Model experience.Experience with multinational or complex Finance environments.Knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.Experience with financial controls, SOX or internal audit.Experience designing or improving Finance reporting and analytics.Previous experience with other enterprise ERP platforms alongside Workday.
