Function Developer - Engine Control Systems

We are looking for a Function Developer for a consulting assignment within advanced automotive engineering. You will join an experienced development team working with engine control software for petrol and hybrid powertrains. The role focuses on developing, testing and validating control functions related to air charge estimation and control, combining model-based software development with analysis and practical testing.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work throughout the development process, from function design and implementation to testing, evaluation and verification.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Develop and improve control functions for petrol and hybrid powertrainsWork with functions related to air charge estimation and controlDevelop embedded control software using MATLAB and SimulinkWork with model-based development tools such as Embedded Coder and TargetLinkTest, analyse and validate developed functionsPerform simulations and support Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testingAnalyse test results and troubleshoot function behaviourPlan, document and report development and verification activitiesCollaborate with software, calibration, testing and powertrain engineers
Job requirements
To be successful in this role, we believe you have:
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or a similar technical fieldExperience in embedded systems or function developmentStrong knowledge of MATLAB and SimulinkExperience with model-based software developmentKnowledge of Embedded Coder, TargetLink or similar toolsGood analytical and problem-solving skillsProfessional proficiency in English
It is not a must, but an advantage if you have
Knowledge of internal combustion engines and engine control systemsAcademic or professional experience within combustion engines, electronics or software developmentExperience with SIL testingProgramming experience in PythonPrevious experience from automotive or powertrain developmentA valid B driving licenceSwedish language skills
You are a structured and analytical engineer who enjoys combining software development with practical testing and problem-solving. You are comfortable taking ownership of your work, investigating technical issues independently and communicating your findings clearly.
