About the teamYou'll join a small, senior, self-sufficient engineering team. Product-minded and startup-paced — close to our customers, moving quickly, with real ownership over technical direction. Using AI where it genuinely adds value, built on a strong traditional software core — not a business that lives or dies by the AI hype cycle. The role This is a hands-on Lead Engineer position, not a step away from the code. You'll:Own software architecture and technical decisions for our core platformStay properly embedded in the stack — this isn't a "used to code" leadership roleRun 1:1s, performance reviews and support recruitment for your teamOrganise sprints and help shape the technical roadmapWork closely with our Principal Engineer and stakeholders on technical directionBalance commercial and product thinking with deep technical delivery Tech stack: TypeScript, Node.js, Python, AI, AWS — modern software development across our AI and App teams. What our client is looking forA very senior engineer first — software architecture experience is a must. You'll take on people leadership (1:1s, reviews, recruitment) but this isn't a full-time management role; we need someone who wants to stay hands-on while growing into broader ownership. Backend/infrastructure-leaning engineers are welcome — full-stack experience is a plus but not required for someone with strong Lead Engineer credentials.
