Laboratory Test Engineer – Power Systems & Real-Time SimulationsTitle: Senior Laboratory Test Engineer – Power Systems & HIL SimulationLocation: Vaasa, Finland (Hybrid – 4 Days On-site / Week)Contract Duration: 11 Oct 2026 – 11 Oct 2027 (12 Months, Freelance B2B, extension potential)Workload: 100% (40 hrs/week) Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior Laboratory Test Engineer for a 12-month contract assignment in Vaasa, Finland. Joining a specialized power engineering team, you will design, implement, and lead secondary injection, protection, and automation testing using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) real-time simulations for energy infrastructure and distribution networks. Key Responsibilities: Design and execute automation and protection testing suites, including HIL testing for power systems according to customer specifications.Lead customer approvals and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for distribution protection relays.Maintain and manage test laboratory facilities and testing setups in Vaasa.Productize and standardize real-time simulation and testing service offerings. Qualifications & Requirements:Core Requirements: Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or equivalent.Industry Background: Solid hands-on background in power systems engineering, electrical installations, or commissioning setups.Testing & Approvals: Demonstrated experience leading Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and customer approval processes.Simulators & Tools: Direct experience using real-time simulators (RTDS, Typhoon HIL, or Opal-RT) and relay test sets (Omicron or similar amplifiers).Languages: Professional fluency in English (spoken and written). Desirable Experience: Simulation experience using PSCAD or similar power system analysis software.Proficiency in Finnish and/or Swedish.
