Technical Transformation ManagerFreelance |Fully Remote (EU-based) | Available Immediately OverviewOur client is looking for a Technical Transformation Manager to take ownership of large-scale technical transformation initiatives from initial definition through delivery. This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role — not a governance or PMO position. The ideal candidate has a genuine technical background and is able to understand architecture, engineering constraints, system integrations and technical trade-offs well enough to challenge decisions and drive them forward.You will work closely with senior developers, architects, product teams, vendors and business stakeholders, taking ownership of ambiguous technical problems from definition through execution.The role initially operates as a senior individual contributor position, with potential evolution toward a Product Owner or similar role depending on experience and aspirations. Key Responsibilities▸ Take ownership of large, ambiguous technical transformation initiatives from initial definition through delivery.▸ Break complex technical problems into clear, executable workstreams.▸ Coordinate and align engineering teams, architects, product teams, vendors and multiple business entities.▸ Work directly with technical teams to understand architecture, dependencies, integrations and implementation constraints.▸ Challenge technical designs, assumptions, estimates and proposed solutions when necessary.▸ Evaluate technical trade-offs and support sound decision-making.▸ Identify risks, dependencies and scalability issues before they become blockers.▸ Drive alignment across teams and stakeholders without relying on formal authority.▸ Ensure initiatives achieve a concrete technical outcome rather than simply tracking plans and milestones.▸ Support platform standardisation, system integration and large-scale technology rollouts where relevant.▸ Operate effectively in situations where requirements or solutions are initially unclear. RequirementsTechnical Background▸ Strong previous experience in a technical career path such as Software Engineering, Solution or Software Architecture, Systems Engineering, Technical Integration, Platform Engineering, or similar hands-on technical roles.▸ Strong understanding of technical dependencies, integration challenges, scalability and implementation trade-offs.▸ Production coding is not required, but the technical foundation must be sufficiently strong to challenge engineering decisions independently.Transformation & Delivery▸ Proven experience owning complex technical initiatives end to end.▸ Experience working across multiple systems, teams, vendors or organisational entities.▸ Strong ability to decompose large technical problems into manageable workstreams.▸ Experience driving decisions and execution in highly cross-functional environments.▸ Comfortable working with significant ambiguity and evolving requirements.Stakeholder Management▸ Strong ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.▸ Experience influencing senior stakeholders without direct hierarchical authority.▸ Able to build alignment across engineering teams, product teams, architects, vendors and business stakeholders.▸ Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
