Concept Engineer

About the AssignmentAs a Concept Engineer, you will work in both early and late concept development phases, supporting engineering, design, pilot plant, and manufacturing organizations through the development of prototypes, test objects, and validation equipment.This role combines advanced mechanical design with cross-functional collaboration and project coordination. You will work closely with multiple production and workshop environments, supporting the complete journey from concept creation to physical validation.The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to future technologies, innovative manufacturing methods, and prototype development activities that support next-generation products. Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Concept Engineer, you will:Create and develop CAD models using CATIA V5 for concept and prototype applications.Design and develop prototype tools and fixtures for concept production.Support project planning activities and maintain project schedules together with project management teams.Define and coordinate engineering solutions and build concepts within development projects.Ensure traceability of engineering documentation and design data within PLM systems.Act as a technical representative during prototype build activities.Develop conceptual solutions based on future technical and product requirements.Support technology development and continuous improvement initiatives.Coordinate material flows and engineering activities across multiple stakeholders.Collaborate closely with prototype workshops and manufacturing environments, including:MillingComposite laminationSheet metal manufacturingVacuum castingPaint shop operationsInjection moldingUpholsteryAdditive manufacturing / 3D printing Required QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical education.Minimum 5 years of experience working with prototype development.Advanced CAD skills, particularly within CATIA V5.Proven experience in mechanical design engineering.Experience with engineering templates and product development methodologies.Knowledge of prototype and test object materials.Experience with Teamcenter Engineering (TcE).Understanding of automotive product development processes.Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Meritorious QualificationsExperience working with prototype manufacturing and validation environments.Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques and prototype production methods.Experience within automotive engineering and vehicle development.Familiarity with concept development and feasibility studies.Experience working in highly cross-functional organizations.
