Freelance Software Engineer – Real Estate Tech (Remote)

Join an early-stage real estate technology project as a freelance software engineer, working directly with the founder to build a production-ready platform from the ground up. This role is ideal for someone passionate about full-stack development, system architecture, and delivering robust, scalable solutions in a fast-paced, startup environment. You will be responsible for designing and implementing interactive, computation-heavy interfaces, integrating real-time data visualisation, and handling dynamic parameters. The position is remote and part-time, with a flexible schedule of approximately 20 hours per week and a target delivery by year-end.

Deliverables

Develop and maintain full-stack web application features using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and React. Design and implement interactive user interfaces with real-time updates and data visualisation. Integrate geospatial mapping tools such as ArcGIS Maps SDK, CesiumJS, and PostGIS. Build and optimise backend systems, including PostgreSQL databases and background job processing. Ensure seamless frontend-backend integration and deployment readiness. Write and maintain automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability. Collaborate closely with the founder to iterate on requirements and deliver functional prototypes. Take ownership of assigned components and deliverables, ensuring timely and high-quality output.

Strong experience with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and React for full-stack development. Proficiency in PostgreSQL, Git, and modern deployment workflows. Demonstrated ability to independently translate business requirements into scalable software solutions. Experience with background jobs, testing frameworks, and frontend-backend integration. Familiarity with 3D visualisation, WebGL, ArcGIS Maps SDK, CesiumJS, PostGIS, and geospatial map integrations is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously in a remote, early-stage environment. Strong problem-solving skills, accountability, and a proactive approach to project ownership. Availability for approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility to meet project milestones.
