Senior Drupal Full Stack Developer (PHP/JavaScript) - European Commission Project

Join an exciting European Commission project as a Senior Drupal Full Stack Developer, contributing to the development, integration, and maintenance of science-policy web platforms that support key EU initiatives in sustainability, circular economy, bioeconomy, and resilient supply chains. You will work in a highly international and multicultural environment, taking a leading technical role in the design and delivery of modern digital solutions built on Drupal and integrated with the European Commission's corporate services. What you will do Lead the full-stack development, integration, and maintenance of Drupal-based web platforms.Design and develop scalable front-end architectures and engaging user experiences using modern web technologies.Develop robust back-end applications and business logic using PHP, Symfony components, and related technologies.Build, customize, and maintain Drupal solutions, including custom module development, theming, site building, and migrations between Drupal versions.Design, secure, document, and implement RESTful APIs and integrations with external services, including Single Sign-On solutions.Develop data visualization, dashboard, and interactive mapping components to support scientific and policy-oriented platforms.Ensure high standards of security, accessibility, performance, and cross-browser compatibility across applications.Manage application deployments and environments through CI/CD pipelines and containerized platforms.Perform code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, optimize existing systems, and contribute to architectural decisions.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and translate business and scientific requirements into efficient technical solutions.Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation.Provide technical leadership and mentoring within the development team. What we are looking for Bachelor's or Master's degree and a minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience.At least 5 years of experience in back-end web application development using PHP or similar technologies, including a minimum of 2 years working with Drupal and custom module development.At least 5 years of experience in front-end development using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, responsive design, and cross-browser implementation.At least 3 years of experience designing, implementing, securing, and documenting APIs and interoperability solutions.Strong hands-on experience with Drupal, PHP, Symfony, REST APIs, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.Knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as React, Angular, Vue, Bootstrap, D3.js, or Leaflet.Experience with Python scripting and data processing.Solid understanding of authentication and authorization standards including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, SAML, and CAS.Experience with Git-based development workflows and collaborative development platforms.Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, CI/CD pipelines, Linux environments, and web servers such as Apache and NGINX.Strong knowledge of secure development practices, web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), and performance optimization.Excellent communication skills in English (B2 level or higher).Ability to work effectively in multicultural and international environments.Proactive, results-oriented mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
