Automation Solutions Architect – Automation, Ansible, Infrastructure as Code – Contract – 100% Remote, Europe

A global organisation are seeking an experienced Automation Solutions Architect to join their Self-Service Automation Team, with a strong focus on automation engineering, solution architecture, and technical ownership. The ideal candidate will be both an architect and a hands-on practitioner, with strong experience designing and implementing automation frameworks, translating requirements into scalable technical solutions, and driving Infrastructure as Code and Application as Code standards. This will be a 12 months+ contract with the opportunity for extensions. This position will be worked on a 100% remote basis with Europe being preferred as the candidate location. Key Responsibilities:Own requirements analysis and translate business and technical requirements into effective automated solutions.Design, develop, and implement reusable, scalable, and secure automation frameworks.Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Application as Code (AaC) standards across the environment.Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks using YAML for configuration management and infrastructure automation.Design and implement configuration management and orchestration solutions.Develop scripting and automation solutions using Python and other appropriate technologies.Design and manage cron-based job scheduling and automated operational processes.Integrate automation solutions with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows.Establish and promote automation governance, standards, best practices, and secure-by-design principles.Reduce manual operational activity through structured, secure, and governed automation.Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, application, and delivery teams to identify opportunities for automation.Provide technical leadership and solution ownership across automation projects. Key Skills Required:10+ years of experience in technology delivery, platform engineering, infrastructure, automation, or related disciplines.3–5+ years of experience in architectural, solution architecture, or technical solution ownership roles.Strong hands-on experience with Ansible and YAML playbooks.Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.Experience designing and managing cron-based job automation and scheduling.Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code and Application as Code frameworks.Strong understanding of automation engineering, configuration management, orchestration, and DevOps practices.Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.Strong understanding of modular architecture, automation patterns, scalability, and maintainability.
