Freelance Illustrator – Vintage Christmas Card

This role is for a talented illustrator to create a bespoke Christmas card in a vintage style reminiscent of 1950s and 1960s holiday cards. The artwork will feature a romantic couple and a hotel, capturing a Traditional/Romance Christmas theme with retro colouring and charm. Visual references for the preferred style will be provided to guide the creative process. The final design is required by 14 October 2026, and there is potential for future projects based on the outcome of this commission.

Deliverables

Produce a high-quality digital or analogue illustration for a Christmas card, reflecting the vintage aesthetic of mid-20th-century holiday cards. Incorporate the hotel and a couple as central elements, ensuring the design aligns with the Traditional/Romance Christmas theme. Collaborate with the client to review visual references and integrate feedback into the final artwork. Deliver the completed design in the required format by the specified deadline. Ensure the artwork is suitable for print and digital use.

Proven experience in illustration, with a strong portfolio showcasing vintage or retro-inspired artwork. Proficiency in digital illustration tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) or traditional media with the ability to digitize final artwork. Strong understanding of colour palettes and design motifs typical of 1950s and 1960s Christmas cards. Ability to interpret creative briefs and visual references accurately. Excellent communication skills for feedback and revisions. Availability to complete the project by 14 October 2026. Experience working on single-commission projects with potential for ongoing collaboration.
