Game Developer – Adventure Proposal Project
This unique opportunity is for a creative and technically skilled game developer to craft a short, old-school adventure game inspired by classics like King's Quest and Monkey Island. The project is a personal commission, designed as a heartfelt proposal gift, and will guide the player through memorable moments in a relationship, culminating in a marriage proposal. The ideal candidate will have a passion for narrative-driven games, a strong appreciation for retro aesthetics, and the ability to deliver a polished, engaging experience within a tight timeline.
Responsibilities
Design and develop a narrative-driven adventure game with classic point-and-click mechanics Incorporate story elements and key relationship moments provided by the client Create pixel art or retro-inspired visuals reminiscent of 80s and 90s adventure games Implement puzzles, dialogue, and interactive sequences that reflect the couple’s journey Ensure the game is accessible and playable on modern platforms (PC or web-based preferred) Collaborate closely with the client to capture the intended emotional tone and story beats Deliver a fully functional, bug-free game within the agreed timeframe
Skills And Requirements
Proven experience developing adventure or narrative games, with a portfolio showcasing relevant work Proficiency in game engines suitable for 2D adventure games (e.g., Unity, Godot, Adventure Game Studio) Strong skills in pixel art, sprite animation, or retro game asset creation Ability to write engaging dialogue and design meaningful puzzles Excellent communication skills and responsiveness to feedback Ability to work independently and manage project timelines effectively Availability to start immediately and deliver within 1–2 months Experience with personal or emotionally driven projects is a plus
