Senior Cloud Architect for EU Institutions

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Services Architect to join an international environment focused on the design, modernization, and operation of large-scale enterprise platforms supporting critical business processes and digital transformation initiatives.The successful candidate will work on complex cloud and hybrid architectures, helping to define technology strategies, improve operational excellence, ensure security and compliance, and drive innovation across enterprise systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and technical experts to design scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions that support current and future business needs. What you will do Design and implement cloud and hybrid solutions aligned with business objectives, performance requirements and operational KPIs.Define cloud architecture strategies, target architectures and migration roadmaps.Establish and manage cloud landing zones, governance models, access controls and security guardrails.Design scalable, resilient and highly available cloud infrastructures.Manage and optimize cloud services, capacity, performance and operational efficiency.Perform cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting and optimization activities using FinOps practices.Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements, including data protection and cloud security frameworks.Design and implement disaster recovery, business continuity and resilience strategies.Create architecture documentation, deployment models, integration designs and operational procedures.Automate cloud provisioning, deployment and operational processes using Infrastructure as Code and scripting tools.Collaborate with development, operations and infrastructure teams to support cloud-native and enterprise applications.Define cloud monitoring, observability, logging and incident management strategies.Support cloud transformation initiatives and migration projects from on-premises to cloud environments.Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements aligned with enterprise architecture standards.Provide technical leadership, guidance and cloud expertise to stakeholders and project teams.Contribute to DevSecOps initiatives and the continuous improvement of cloud delivery processes. What we are looking for University degree or equivalent higher education qualification.Minimum 10 years of professional experience in IT and architecture-related roles.Strong experience designing and implementing cloud solutions in enterprise environments.Solid knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or OVH.Experience designing and managing hybrid cloud infrastructures.Expertise in cloud architecture, governance, security and operational best practices.Strong understanding of networking concepts and cloud-native architectures.Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Azure Bicep.Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.Experience with DevOps and DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.Experience with cloud monitoring, observability and optimisation tools.Knowledge of cloud security frameworks, identity management and compliance standards such as GDPR, ISO 27001 and CIS Benchmarks.Experience working with scripting languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell.Understanding of enterprise integration patterns, APIs and distributed systems.Knowledge of backend technologies such as Java, Spring Boot and related ecosystems.Experience with Jira and Confluence in Agile environments.Knowledge of database services and cloud-hosted data platforms.Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Excellent English or French communication skills (minimum B2 level).Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within multicultural and international teams. Nice to have: Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.Experience with legacy JEE environments (WebLogic, EJB, JMS).Knowledge of AI-native cloud architectures, LLM integrations and Agentic AI frameworks.Experience with cloud-based AI, analytics, BI/DWH and serverless services.Experience with certificate management and secure authentication protocols such as OpenID Connect and JWT.Exposure to SaaS enterprise platforms such as Power Platform or ServiceNow.Previous experience working in European Institutions or large international organisations.
