Senior Financial Accountant

I’m supporting a growing European fintech with the appointment of a Senior Financial Accountant for its Finnish entity. This is a hands-on role with full ownership of the local accounting function, including daily bookkeeping, month-end and year-end closes, statutory reporting, VAT and tax filings. You’ll work directly with the CFO while helping build scalable accounting processes as the Finnish operation grows. 📍 Helsinki, Finland🏠 Hybrid – four days per week in the office💰 €64,000–€82,000 per year depending on experience What you’ll be doingOwn end-to-end accounting for the Finnish entityPerform daily bookkeeping, postings and reconciliationsLead month-end and year-end closing processesPrepare financial statements in accordance with Finnish GAAPPrepare and submit VAT returns, tax filings and statutory reportsEnsure compliance with Finnish accounting and tax requirementsEstablish and improve accounting processes and internal controlsIdentify gaps and resolve issues in existing accounting workflowsCoordinate with external accountants and auditors while maintaining internal ownershipEnsure documentation and schedules remain accurate and audit-readySupport the Finnish entity’s transition into the company’s primary operating hub What we’re looking forApproximately six or more years of hands-on accounting experiencePrevious experience working within fintech, payments, banking or another financial-services environmentProven experience independently owning end-to-end accounting for a Finnish entityStrong knowledge of Finnish GAAP, VAT, local taxation and statutory reportingHands-on experience with Netvisor, Xero, SAP or a similar accounting platformComfortable working directly in the systems and performing detailed cross-checks and reconciliationsExperience leading monthly and annual closesA practical and flexible approach to working within a growing company where processes are still being developedFluent Finnish and EnglishDegree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline
