Associate Director, Clinical Pharmacology Barrington James is supporting a rapidly growing pharmaceutical/biotechnology organisation in the appointment of an Associate Director, Clinical Pharmacology. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacologist to take a leading role in shaping non-clinical and early clinical pharmacology strategies across an exciting drug development portfolio. The successful candidate will provide expertise across PK/PD, modelling & simulation and Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD), helping to drive key decisions around dose selection, study design and regulatory strategy. The Role You will act as a key scientific contributor within global, cross-functional development teams, partnering closely with Clinical, Statistics and other functions to translate pharmacology data into meaningful development decisions.You will have the opportunity to combine hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership, while also mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the continued development of the Clinical Pharmacology function. Key ResponsibilitiesLead PK/PD analysis, modelling and simulation activities across non-clinical and early clinical development programmes.Apply mechanistic and population PK/PD modelling approaches using tools such as NONMEM, Phoenix WinNonlin and related platforms.Develop and execute Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD) strategies.Lead the analysis, integration and interpretation of clinical pharmacology data to support dose selection and study design.Develop pharmacology plans and ensure consistent application of scientific best practice across programmes.Support the design and execution of early-phase clinical studies.Provide pharmacology input into protocols, SAPs, study reports and regulatory documentation.Contribute to INDs, BLAs, MAAs, Investigator's Brochures, briefing documents and regulatory responses.Support regulatory interactions and provide clinical pharmacology expertise during agency discussions.Represent Clinical Pharmacology on global programme teams and multifunctional working groups.Partner closely with clinicians and statisticians to optimise dosing strategies and clinical study designs.Provide scientific leadership and contribute to programme-level decision making.Mentor and coach junior scientists and colleagues.Remain up to date with relevant scientific literature, regulatory guidance and internal SOPs. What We're Looking For PhD, PharmD or equivalent professional training in Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutics or a related discipline.3+ years' relevant industry or academic experience supporting PK, PD and pharmacology activities.Experience working across non-clinical and early clinical drug development programmes.Strong hands-on experience with PK/PD modelling and simulation.Experience using tools such as NONMEM and Phoenix WinNonlin.Understanding and practical application of MIDD principles.Experience contributing to pharmacology strategy within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.Exposure to regulatory submissions and interactions is highly desirable.Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders.Strong collaborative and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively within matrixed global teams.A proactive mindset and desire to contribute within a fast-paced, growing organisation.
