Lighting Studio Engineer

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden – on-siteStart date: 2 November 2026Project duration: until 30 April 2027 Design Consulting is looking for an experienced Exterior/Interior Lighting Studio Engineer to support the development of technically feasible and competitive automotive lighting solutions.You will work at the interface between Design and Engineering, translating design intent, technical requirements and legislation into innovative lighting concepts. Key responsibilities:Represent and communicate design requirements within EngineeringTranslate engineering and legal requirements into design possibilitiesDevelop feasible solutions for technically challenging lighting areasSupport exterior and interior automotive lighting conceptsCreate lighting concepts using CATIA and optical simulation softwareDocument agreements, feasibility assessments and critical issuesBenchmark competitor lighting solutionsSupport technology scouting and workshops with suppliersSupport the development of physical lamp prototypesRequirements:Technical university degree or equivalent qualificationMore than 10 years of automotive industry experienceExtensive experience in automotive lamp concept engineeringStrong knowledge of exterior and interior lighting technologiesDeep understanding of lighting engineering and legal requirementsExcellent CATIA V5 Solid and Surface skillsStrong experience with Teamcenter and JiraKnowledge of vehicle-development, validation and manufacturing processesExperience with optical software such as SPEOS, LucidShape or LightTools is preferredExperience working in an automotive design studio is an advantageFluent EnglishStrong leadership, communication and teamwork skillsAvailability for occasional business travel to China Interested candidates can apply by sending an updated CV and indicating their earliest availability and expected hourly rate.
