Senior Java Angular Engineer - Digital Identity & Document Management - European Commission Project

Join a strategic European Commission project focused on Digital Identity, Records Management, and Document Preservation systems. As a Senior Java Angular Engineer, you will contribute to the development and evolution of critical platforms that manage the lifecycle, security, preservation, and accessibility of official Commission documents and archives. You will work in a multicultural and international environment, helping deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions that support the European Commission's digital transformation initiatives. What you will do Design and develop modern front-end architectures and user interactions using Angular and modern web technologies.Develop and maintain robust back-end applications using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.Implement core business logic for document management, records management, and digital preservation systems.Design, build, and secure RESTful APIs and interoperability services.Apply security best practices including authentication, authorization, secure storage, logging, monitoring, and data protection.Develop applications that support digital signatures, digital certificates, and document encryption processes.Ensure web applications are optimized for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.Design and develop responsive applications with a strong focus on user experience.Participate in the design and creation of scalable enterprise software solutions.Maintain code quality, integrity, and organization while following modern software engineering best practices.Perform unit testing, integration testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and code validation.Develop and maintain features across the full technology stack, from user interfaces and APIs to server-side logic and database interactions.Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments using CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.Investigate production issues, analyze logs and databases, and provide Level 3 support for business-critical applications.Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation.Collaborate closely with architects, business analysts, and development teams to ensure seamless integration across system components. What we are looking for University degree and a minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience.At least 10 years of experience with Java development and the Spring ecosystem.At least 5 years of experience with Angular development.At least 10 years of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.At least 5 years of experience working with relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.At least 5 years of experience with digital signatures, digital certificates, and encryption technologies.Strong expertise with Java 17+, Spring Framework 6+, Spring Boot 3+, and JPA/Hibernate.Solid experience designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs and web services.Strong knowledge of Angular 14+ and state management solutions such as NgRx.Experience with accessibility standards, particularly WCAG 2.1+.Experience working with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server, including schema design and query optimization.Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Firebase.Experience with Git workflows and collaborative development practices.Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, containerization technologies, and cloud-native deployments.Experience with automated testing frameworks and methodologies including JUnit, Mockito, Spring Boot Test, and TDD.Knowledge of SOLID principles and modern software design patterns.Experience with Elasticsearch.Experience with secret management tools such as HashiCorp Vault.Experience working with public cloud platforms, ideally AWS.Experience with Atlassian tools including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.Knowledge of Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.Experience with document management, records management, or digital archiving systems is highly valued.Knowledge of ISO 14721:2012 (OAIS) standards is considered a strong advantage.Excellent communication skills in English (B2 level or higher); French is considered an asset.Eligible for EU Security Clearance or already holding an active EU Security Clearance.
