Business Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with a strong insurance and data background to support a major application modernization project. As part of the project, an existing COBOL-based mainframe legacy application is being rebuilt in Google Cloud. The modernization includes enhancements based on a Data Vault architecture and requires close collaboration between business stakeholders, subject matter experts, data engineers, and technical teams. In this role, you will play a key part in translating complex insurance business processes and legacy system logic into clear, structured requirements for the new data platform. Your Responsibilities:Review and understand existing business and technical documentation for a COBOL-based mainframe legacy system.Analyze and translate insurance-specific business logic, particularly within Property & Casualty (P&C) / composite insurance, into clear and actionable requirements for Data Engineers.Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to validate business concepts, calculation logic, and underlying requirements.Identify and map relevant business attributes from:Business concepts and requirementsDB2 source tablesData exports and legacy data sourcesDefine and model attributes, business keys, and relationships within the Collibra data catalog.Develop, maintain, and govern an insurance-specific business glossary.Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical data teams to ensure that business requirements are accurately reflected in the target data model. Your Profile:Several years of experience as a Business Analyst, Requirements Engineer, Data Analyst, or similar role in an insurance or data transformation environment.Strong understanding of P&C / composite insurance processes and business logic.Experience working with legacy systems, ideally COBOL/mainframe environments and DB2.Strong ability to translate complex business requirements into clear specifications for technical teams.Experience with data mapping, data modeling, business keys, and data relationships.Practical experience with Collibra or comparable data catalog / data governance platforms.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented approach to complex requirements.
