Optical Payload Engineer – Satellite Communications, Space, Payload, Space hardware Long term contract / freelance opportunity for a proven Optical Payload Engineer to join my leading client in the Satellite communications / space domain on a greenfield program where our client are developing a new MEO Satellite constellation from scratch. The role of the Optical Payload Engineer will be to own the specification, procurement, development, qualification, integration, testing and in orbit performance of optical payload equipment for the MEO Satellites, including Earth observation instruments and optical communications terminals. To be successful in this role you must be a proven Optical Payload Engineer with hands on experience with Optical payload equipment and space hardware. You must be a hands on Engineer and not purely theoretical. The ideal candidate will also have experience communicating with and managing industrial suppliers, overseeing design reviews, qualifications, acceptance testing and delivery. Naturally as this is a space/satellite project we are looking for someone who has worked on these projects before. This role is mostly fully remote, with occasional travel required to the clients offices.
